Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our products help Oura members gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped over a million people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.
We are looking for Summer Trainees to our software development teams across mobile, web, cloud backend and infrastructure. Please let us know in the application form what would be most interesting for you and best fit for your skills.
Preferred location is Helsinki or Oulu, and the planned length for the summer trainee period is 3-4 months, timing can be agreed between 05/2024- 09/2024.
What You will do:
As our Summer Trainee, you will join our existing development teams and work on the same projects with them. This is how we believe you will have the best working experience and can show us your potential.
Some examples of what our teams are working on, and what we can see you doing for us:
- Wonderful and engaging App UX for new app features geared towards sustained wellbeing
- Work closely with the data layer in the backend of apps or cloud that connect our products and services to work with personal data in a secure and effective manner
- Dig into the machine learning platform powering our algorithms and features behind the scenes
- Improve connectivity and other interactions between the mobile app and the ring itself
- Focus on cloud infrastructure and great development experience that helps us deliver new features faster
- Smoothen the deployment pipeline and configuration of our packages to make sure every app works as intended
- A web product focused on technical diagnosis of our rings, products and services that ensures world-class quality
- A web product focused on content management and providing accurate health insights powered by data

We are looking for someone who has programming skills and is eager to learn more. Your experience can be from your personal projects, school projects or previous trainee experience.
We are doing cloud amp; web development with Python, TypeScript and JavaScript and mobile development with Kotlin and Swift. Our cloud software runs mainly on AWS, and we use their specialised services like SageMaker and EKS to help us be more productive. It will be beneficial to have experience from these languages, services or similar technologies.

Our process is following:
- Interviews will start in January and continue during February. We will let you know if you are not invited to our interview rounds
- There will be three interviews + a technical assignment
- HR interview: focus on company culture and values
- Team interview: focus on the role and your skills
- Final interview: focus on your ways of working and your goals
- We want to make our decisions by the end of February but we let you know if there are any delays.
