We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Science team in Oulu or Helsinki. Our team is passionate about building science-driven features that rely on advanced signal processing and machine learning techniques to provide users with new insights into their health. We are dedicated to ensuring that the physiologic information Oura provides is both accurate and actionable. The ideal candidate will ensure the excellence of our data science products.
What You will do:
- Contribute to development of new human physiology based features and new sensor technology by analysing massive amount of human data and biosignals
- Develop reusable data analytics tools, which can be deployed at scale
- Develop and deploy algorithms based on deep and machine learning, and contribute to productization for science-based features
- Ensure that our data science products are generalizable and corner cases meets Oura standards of credibility and accuracy
- Communicate with cross-functional teams and overseas stakeholders
Oura is not your typical web app. We are working on interesting technical challenges such as:
- Distributed systems: Multiple data producers, apps with offline support and real-time sync
- Modern Cloud Architecture: AWS + Containers + Managed services
- Large scale data: Oura customers generate terabytes of data
- Applied ML: Great data for building production machine learning systems
- Security: We handle sensitive user data, where security is not an afterthought
- A continuously growing user-base of highly active and passionate users
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you:
- Have 5+ years of experience in Data Science with sparse data of real world
- Solid programming skills in Python
- Have experience with machine learning, deep learning, biosignal processing and multimodal data fusion
- Have an advanced degree (Masters) in a STEM-related field (e.g. engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics) or equivalent work experience
- Have experience developing physiological data based algorithms and validating them for health-relevant applications
- Have experience building and deploying data science products in AWS
- Have a pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can think fast, act fast and prioritize effectively
- Able to think from the end-user's perspective and understand practical considerations of putting models into production use
- Have a good understanding of product and user analytics
- Are comfortable working with a diverse, distributed and talented group of team members
