About Vaadin
Vaadin is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Developer Intern who loves technology and challenges to join us in our quest to make developing web applications easier. With over 20 years of experience, we've developed two open-source web frameworks and a wide range of modern UI components, serving a community of over 200,000 developers worldwide.
As a Junior Developer Intern, we hope you have a good grasp of Java and a genuine interest in user interfaces. Additionally, having some experience with web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript will help you navigate your tasks more smoothly. Since English is our primary language, we encourage you to feel comfortable communicating in English.
In your role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate on implementing features: Collaborate closely with the team to implement enhancements to our frameworks, improving functionality and user experience for developers around the world.
- Engage in issue triage: Engage directly with the community, providing timely responses to issue reports, seeking quick resolutions, evaluating the overall validity of issues, requesting additional information when necessary.
- Participate in quality assurance: Play a critical role in identifying and fixing flaky tests and resolving test failures on Windows platforms, thereby enhancing the reliability and robustness of our framework.
- Participate in code health initiatives: Actively participate in refactoring efforts to address hotpoints in our codebase, tackling code quality issues to maintain a clean and efficient code environment.
- Contribute to documentation: Contribute to enhancing our framework's documentation and fix any existing documentation gaps, ensuring our developer community has access to clear and comprehensive guides.
- Monitor build status: Oversee our builds, restarting failed builds, conduct failure analyses, implementing quick fixes, and escalate complex issues as necessary.
What we are searching for:
- Experience in Java and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Fluent verbal and written English
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- A relevant educational background
- Familiarity with Vaadin and open source is a big plus
