We’re now looking for Data Engineering Consultants to join us to make this happen. As a consultant at Columbia Road, you will be working in the core of our clients’ business advising, designing and implementing the data solutions needed to drive the business forward.

Columbia Road is an independent Futurice subsidiary challenging the old ways of running ecommerce and digital business. We exist to increase our clients’ revenue and help them get more customers in the digital era. Our tight-knit team consists of business consultants who understand software and highly talented business-driven design and technology specialists.

Job description
We’re looking for Data Engineering Consultants who have a passion for data-driven decision-making and a growth hacking mindset. You'll have an important role in helping our customers grow their business through smart data usage. In practice, this might happen through data warehousing, data integrations, and by building data pipelines to give a few examples. We can see a clear rise in the demand for the ability to build data-related infrastructure, which also translates into exciting growth opportunities for you.
In order to succeed in this kind of a role it is essential to be analytical and enjoy problem-solving. You’re the one to bring clarity into uncertain and chaotic situations. You know how to analyse the results of your work and are able to derive business insights from complex data. You have experience in planning data architectures, running ETL/ELT processes, and using state-of-the-art algorithms to create insights. We enjoy working hands-on with our clients to provide advanced solutions, and we hope you do, too. We appreciate ambition and results-orientation in everything we do, but we like to have fun as well.
It also helps a great deal if you’re familiar with digital marketing and sales solutions like the data structures of the most commonly used marketing and ecommerce platforms. If you have previous experience of successfully driving digital sales, we’re definitely happy to hear about them!
If you believe you have what it takes to mentor other data experts and drive the competency development at Columbia Road, we’re also looking for a senior Data Engineering Consultant to drive and grow the competency area.
Requirements
- Analytical mindset, ability to see and think outside the box
- Strong business mindset and willingness to create business impact
- Previous experience of data mining, data engineering, and ETL/ELT processes (using Python, R, or Tensor Flow, for example)
- Knowledge of SQL databases, data warehouse solutions, data lake architectures, and data modeling (maybe using AWZ, S3, BigQuery, or PostgreSQL)
- Handling a variety of reporting and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, DataStudio, Qlik)
- Knowledge of the related cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong interest in online sales and growth hacking
- Professional proficiency in English conversational Finnish is a plus
Knowledge of web technologies, ecommerce, and content management systems are seen as advantages in the recruitment process.
