Job Description
We are looking for a business-minded controller to work alongside our company leadership. As a business controller at Columbia Road, you will be in charge of the day-to-day operative financials and the internal and external reporting of the company numbers for both Finnish and Swedish business entities.

Job description
We are looking for a business-minded controller to work alongside our company leadership. As a business controller at Columbia Road, you will be in charge of the day-to-day operative financials and the internal and external reporting of the company numbers.
You have two to five (2-5) years of experience working in a similar role, and you are meticulous and detail-oriented. You are good at working with MS Excel / Google Sheets. But you are not a numbers-only person - you also understand the people and business around you and the connections between the business operations and the KPIs we follow.
In this role, you will also be managing and coordinating an external accounting services provider, who provides accounting and bookkeeping services for Columbia Road. You will work closely with this external financial team to drive Columbia Road's numbers forward.
As a business controller, you will be in charge of the current Columbia Road Finland and Columbia Road Sweden company entity finances. In the future, we will have other international subsidiaries as well.
You are self-driven, analytical and enjoy solving problems. You work well even in ambiguous situations, and you are not scared of change. As Columbia Road is growing rapidly, you will need to develop new ways of working and reporting - optimising only the current ways of working is not always enough.
To succeed in this role you’ll also need to be a good communicator. At the end of the day, your job is to make our consultants, our salespeople and other Columbia Road employees succeed by helping them understand their work better.
You would be working in the following areas:
- Internal reporting (weekly / monthly / fiscal)
- External reporting (monthly / fiscal)
- Monthly and yearly closing of the books
- Invoicing process
- Purchase invoice process
- Supporting all Columbia Road employees with matters related to Columbia Road finances
- Developing our financial processes
The business controller role is new inside Columbia Road and you would be the first person in our internal financial team, reporting directly to our Managing Partner Sirkka-Liisa Rotinen. This makes the role especially good for an ambitious person who wants to understand many areas of the business as well as take a lot of responsibility early on in their career.
In order to be successful in this role, you should have native-level proficiency in the Finnish language as well as excellent written and oral skills in English.

Requirements
Skills and experience we expect you to have:
- You have a few years (2-5) of experience in Business Controlling
- You have a Master's level degree in economics, accounting or finance/business administration
- You have excellent skills in MS Office / Google Sheets
- You are analytical
- You understand the knowledge-intensive business well
- You are a good communicator and a team player
- You are ambitious and want to grow fast in your professional career
- Languages: native Finnish, professional English
- Experience from a professional services company is a plus
