We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our Payments Team. Payments is our backend team that operates as the crucial link between our business operations, website and product. The team provides the services and APIs to power and optimize our purchase and service flows to millions of consumers as well as business partners. This is a small and a new team at Oura, so there is a great opportunity for you to influence our architecture.
You will:
- Develop production services to be consumed by the Oura eCommerce platform and Oura products.
- Integrate with internal and external APIs and services to enable new use cases and features
- Design simple and powerful backend APIs and services to power and optimize our purchase and service flows to millions of consumers as well as business partners.
- Ensure that the platform adheres to the latest security and compliance regulations
- Communicate with multiple engineering and sometimes overseas stakeholders in a culture where we create amazing products together
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- 6+ years of practical backend development work experience
- Have direct experience working with business operations such as: eCommerce platforms, SaaS account management, CRMs, campaign management or order handling.
- Have experience integrating with payment providers and ERPs
- Have architected, built and deployed scalable, performant web services in production on AWS or similar, and can apply architectural patterns and best practices
- Have solid programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python and can write high-quality code including automated tests
- Have strong skills and technical vision related to building APIs with REST, gRPC, graphQL or similar technologies
- Have a pragmatic entrepreneurial attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can handle tradeoffs between short-term goals and long-term tech debt
- Have an affinity for automating busywork and fixing problems at the root
- Are comfortable working with a diverse and talented group of team members residing throughout the globe
